Dobwalls and Trewidland Parish Council

Welcome to the official website of Dobwalls and Trewidland Parish Council

Dobwalls and Trewidland is a rural parish in south east Cornwall, situated to the south and east of Liskeard. The largest villages are Dobwalls and Doublebois, through which run the main railway line to Penzance. Formerly a major bottleneck for holidaymakers, Dobwalls is now a quiet village bypassed to the north by the A38 dual carriageway.

Trewidland is a small village in the south of the parish, served by country lanes and Causeland railway station on the Looe  Valley line. Both Dobwalls and Trewidland have primary schools, and there are two shops and a pub in Dobwalls.

Much of the parish is agricultural, with steep sided wooded coombes. There are small industrial units in Dobwalls and Doublebois. Many of the old farm buildings and cottages have been converted to holiday accommodation.

The southern part of the parish is bordered on the west by the East Looe river and the Liskeard and Looe Union Canal, which then cuts across the parish to Moorswater, just to the north of the parish. The Looe Valley Railway runs alongside the canal, which it replaced for the transportation of  sand and lime in the mid nineteenth century.
